Team Summary
Rensselaer Motorsport is a team of more than 35 students who work together year-round to build an electric formula-style race car, continuing a tradition of over 30 years. We participate in Formula SAE, the largest intercollegiate design competition in the world. This global event tasks student teams with designing, building, and competing with a new car each year.
The climax of FSAE unfolds on the track, where these student-built vehicles undergo rigorous assessments in events such as acceleration, skidpad handling, autocross, and endurance. FSAE nurtures teamwork, problem-solving, and engineering skills while providing a platform for emerging engineers to exhibit their talents and connect with industry professionals. It's an exhilarating journey encapsulating innovation, competition, and a deep passion for automotive engineering.
What You Support
This year, Rensselaer Motorsport is attending Formula Hybrid+Electric in April and FSAE EV in June, competing against over 100 teams from around the world. Your support will go directly toward funding our participation in both of these competitions. At competition, our members present to various automotive companies, connect with members from other universities, and extract the maximum performance from the car. These experiences expose team members to the entire engineering design process and feedback that they would not get in the classroom, developing them into well-rounded engineers. By going to two competitions, we are giving ourselves more opportunities to fully display the performance of our car, and more importantly, allowing more members to attend and learn.
Who We Are
To many members, Rensselaer Motorsport is more than a club that allows them to tinker with a race car. Building the car is a passion that requires dedication, perseverance, and ingenuity. Anyone who has worked on designing or manufacturing components for the car will tell you that the knowledge and hands-on experience they gain simply could not be taught in a classroom.
In addition to the educational benefits, the team creates a close-knit group that takes pride in our work. Rensselaer Motorsport has been a part of the Rensselaer community since 1992, and is proud to have a very strong and supportive alumni network. With your help, we can continue to grow the team and make sure that this amazing opportunity is provided to students at Rensselaer for years to come.
