Answering the Call: Support the Next Generation of RPI Ambulance

Who We Are

RPI Ambulance is a student-run, New York State certified EMS agency that provides 24/7 emergency medical care to the RPI campus and surrounding community. For nearly 50 years, our members have responded in moments of need — on call, in classrooms, on fields, and anywhere help is required. We train student EMTs, respond to hundreds of calls each year, and serve as one of the most active collegiate ambulance agencies in the country.

This past year has been one of meaningful progress. We placed our new ambulance, 5939, into service — already improving patient care on more than 300 calls. We also moved into a new dedicated station in Crockett Hall that supports better crew rest, readiness, and training. Our agency continues to grow in membership, leadership, and clinical capability, sustained by the same commitment to service that has defined RPI Ambulance for generations.

What You're Supporting

Now, we are asking our alumni, parents, friends, and community to join us in our next essential step: replacing and upgrading our First Response Vehicle (5959). RPI Ambulance has carefully managed some reserve funds to prepare for this purchase, but your help will be essentially in closing this gap. 

5959 has served RPI Ambulance for more than a decade. It has been our workhorse — transporting crews, responding as a secondary emergency unit, supporting event standbys, and allowing us to reach scenes quickly when every minute matters. But at nearly 19 years old and after years of Troy winters, 5959 is nearing the end of its safe and reliable service life.

A new first response vehicle will allow us to:

  • Rapidly reach emergency scenes when the ambulance is committed elsewhere
  • Support multiple calls and campus events simultaneously
  • Transport crews and equipment safely and reliably
  • Expand our presence in community outreach, campus training, and public safety education

This is more than a vehicle upgrade. It is an investment in our ability to respond when someone needs help. It is an investment in the next generation of EMTs who learn leadership, teamwork, and lifesaving skills through service. And it is an investment in the safety and care of the RPI community.
