Riding Strong With Engineered Precision: RPI Equestrian
The Mission
The RPI Equestrian Team is dedicated to fostering student growth, teamwork, and the love of equestrian sports. We aim to make a lasting impact by creating a more financially accessible and safe experience for our current and future team members.
What You Support
The RPI Equestrian Team competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) in the hunt seat discipline. The IHSA encourages students of all experience levels to join, from never having sat on a horse, to having competed nationally. All genders compete against each other, and the IHSA encourages diversity and inclusion within all members and teams. A component of the IHSA is advocating for equine accessibility regardless of a member's financial background. Equestrian sports are known for being extremely expensive, preventing many interested people from joining. The IHSA was founded to create an economical way to join and compete in equestrian sports.
Another component of our story is advocating for the health and well-being of our trusty horses. For us to support them and vice versa, we need to have the proper gear to compete. This includes saddle pads, saddles, girths, bridles, polos, and more. Much of our gear has been lovingly used and needs replaced soon. Our goal is to reduce students’ out-of-pocket expenses for lessons, competitions, and equipment and to increase safety by replacing worn gear. Every dollar you give will go directly toward helping RPI students pursue their passion for riding, grow as athletes, and compete on a collegiate level.
Who We Are
The RPI Equestrian Team was founded in 1982. We are a dedicated equestrian team who despite our relatively small size, take immense pride in consistently producing champion riders and horses who excel on the national stage. While RPI may not be widely recognized for its equestrian program, we confidently hold our own against esteemed institutions within our region. One thing that sets us apart from other schools is that we are a technical school with a diverse riding team and promote academic and athletic excellence.
