RPI Players Spectra Cyc Wash Completion

"Getting these LED fixtures for the RPI Players will be really beneficial for the lighting department. LEDs are a type of light that has become increasingly popular in the theater industry due to multiple factors. We would like to purchase these fixtures as they allow us to do much more than we would be able to do with the fixtures we currently have in our inventory, and they fill a different role than our traditional incandescent fixtures. They are not a replacement; they are an addition to what we already have.

Having these fixtures will really help our designers be able to better explore their creative visions for our productions. For example, they will remove the limitations of having lights that are stuck being a single color, which will allow our designers to have a lot more colors, while using a much smaller number of lights. They also allow for a greater selection of colors than through the method we currently have and will allow our designers to fine-tune the colors that they're using to better match the look and feel that they are going for.

If we use these in the place of multiple incandescent fixtures, these LEDs don't have bulbs in them that need to be replaced, so they'll save us a lot of money that we would have had to spend on those replacement lamps.

These lights are very flexible and are very practical to use while on the road, so if we ever hold a production outside of our usual venue, they will help lessen the stress and headache of getting set up our lights. We already have three of these fixtures in our inventory and they have been an incredibly valuable asset to us.

We've used these lights in nearly every production we've held since last spring, and they've been huge lifesavers given that we've been on the road a lot more recently. We do have plans to continue to be on the road and having a greater number of these fixtures will really help us to better achieve this." - Joseph Jelinek, Technical Director, RPI Players

What You're Supporting

Your donation will support the purchase of 2 Altman Spectra Cyc 200 lighting fixtures. After too many years of an incomplete and patchy lighting wash, the RPI Players are looking to finally complete their long-running project with the purchase of 2 Altman Spectra Cyc 200s. With your help, the stage will finally look complete!

We need to raise $6,200 in order to complete our Spectra Cyc wash.

Supporting this project will massively improve the quality of shows the RPI Players produce and the ability for the Lighting Department to do more fun, interesting, and experimental designs with an expanded modern inventory. You will no longer see dark spots in our stage wash, replaced by smoother colors and a detailed cyc focus. You will see full rainbow effects in a new light, shifting patterns, and objectively a better backdrop.
