This year, the Class of 2023 has chosen to support the Undergraduate Student Relief Fund. This fund provides emergency support to students who face financial hardship that threatens their academic progress and sometimes continued enrollment during their time at RPI.
The Student Relief Fund provides one-time grants up to $1,000 to undergraduate students in immediate need, for things like emergency travel expenses, medical bills not covered by insurance, or replacement costs for essential academic supplies or personal items.
Past recipients of grants from the Student Relief Fund have experienced the death of a parent, the unexpected loss of income from a parent’s illness, faced a natural disaster in their hometown, or have been impacted by the recent pandemic.
So far this year, this fund has allowed the Office of Student Success to award more than $48,000 to 78 students! These requests have been primarily for assistance with basic living expenses, followed by travel expenses related to emergency situations.
The Class of 2023 Gift to this fund will provide more support to students in need of this crucial program, and the fund will be able to impact even more undergraduate Rensselaer students in need. If each member of our class gives a gift of $23 or more in support of this fund, we as a class can help those in need of assistance continue their studies at RPI.
For those interested in making more of an impact on their class gift, seniors who contribute $100 or more will become members of the prestigious Annual Patroon Society at Rensselaer.
Thank you to all of our senior class donors who have already made a gift to the Student Relief Fund or another area of support. Class participation impacts our national rankings, increases the value of your degree, and, just as important, makes a difference for every student at RPI.
