“In the short term, it’ll improve our sports programming; in the long term, it’ll keep the quality of our audio up.” - Jose Luchsinger, Chief Engineer
The Mission
WRPI is the campus radio station at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. We broadcast 365 days a year at 10,000 effective watts from our tower in North Greenbush, New York, which gives WRPI an approximate listening radius of 75 miles. Our programming includes a wide range of alternative and experimental music, cultural and public affairs programs, live local bands, special events, and sports simulcasts. WRPI is fully student-governed. We manage our own music, handle our own budget, promote ourselves, produce live music, and maintain our technical facilities ourselves.
What You're Supporting
Donations to our project will go towards replacing our audio board in studio A. Currently we rely on a board with broken components, and internal issues that makes broadcasting sports programs in a professional capacity impossible. This will not only be a part of our larger push towards digital technology but will improve the quality and ease of broadcasting. We are certain that by installing this new equipment, we can improve our sports programming, have fewer technical difficulties in the studio, and make airing a program easier for our DJs. This fund will also help cover analog to digital converters, that will be essential to the replacement process.
We need to raise $10,000 in order to improve our sports and other broadcasts with new technology.
