This year, the Class of 2022 has chosen to support the Student Relief Fund. Previous class gifts have included supplements to the Diversity Initiative Fund, grants for incoming freshmen to attend Navigating Rensselaer and Beyond programming and support for weR Gold, our student-powered crowdfunding initiative.
The Student Relief Fund is an emergency fund for Rensselaer students who face financial hardship that threatens their academic progress during their time at Rensselaer. This fund supports current undergraduate students whose financial situation has abruptly changed in a manner which may impede their continued enrollment at Rensselaer.
The Student Relief Fund provides one-time grants to undergraduate students in immediate need, for things like emergency travel expenses, medical bills not covered by insurance, or replacement costs for essential academic supplies or personal items.
Past recipients of grants from the Student Relief Fund have experienced the death of a parent, the unexpected loss of income from a parent’s illness, faced a natural disaster in their hometown, or have been impacted by the recent pandemic.
With a supplement from the Class of 2023, the fund will be able to impact more undergraduate, Rensselaer students in need. Gifts – of any size – to this fund will help those in need of assistance in order to continue their studies at Rensselaer.
Financial hiccups at home can be extremely taxing to deal with when simultaneously attending university full-time. The Student Relief Fund would greatly ease the burden on a student whose circumstances may be out of his or her control. This gift has the potential to make or break a student’s professional career. Your gift can provide much-needed help that will allow them to stay in school and complete their education.
For those interested in making more of an impact on their class gift, seniors who contribute $100 or more will become members of the prestigious Annual Patroon Society at Rensselaer.
