“As a musician and a member of five ensembles at RPI, I need a place where I can practice during my free time, where I won’t bother those trying to study, and where I will have the proper equipment to do so. The Rensselaer Music Association’s practice rooms are perfect for that. With over 200 musicians involved in the Rensselaer Music Association, an increase and improvement in equipment would drastically help many students.” -- Kathleen McGuigan '16, Aeronautical & Mechanical Engineering, RMA President
Music is something that those of all ages, cultures and backgrounds can enjoy together! By giving a gift to purchase more musical equipment, you are helping to spread the joy of music to all in the Rensselaer and Troy communities. The RMA would like to replace 20 chairs and 20 stands that are in poor condition, and to replace our three piano benches. Being able to receive this equipment would allow for us to provide adequate resources for students to use when they practice, and to help us inspire and keep the music alive at Rensselaer.
Your gift to this project will allow the Rensselaer Music Association’s music ensembles to better prepare for shows on and off of the Rensselaer campus. With more equipment, we can increase the number of ensembles and performances offered to students and the Rensselaer community! A donation supports not only over 200 students who participate in the Rensselaer Music Association, but the hundreds of Rensselaer and Troy community members who attend our free shows throughout the year.
The Rensselaer Music Association (RMA) is the administrative group for the numerous instrumental and vocal performing groups at Rensselaer. The RMA maintains the J Building Music Suite which houses practice rooms and instrument storage facilities that are available for student use. Instruments are available for lending and renting through the RMA. Every year, the RMA organizes and hosts several free concerts where student groups perform for anyone interested.
