“DBF provides students from a variety of backgrounds with hands-on experience in aircraft design. Every member comes away from the experience better equipped to thrive in environments where interdisciplinary teamwork and creative problem solving are necessary.” – Kenneth Varghese '17
The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Design/Build/Fly Team is a student-run club founded at Rensselaer in 2006. The team competes yearly in the AIAA Design/Build/Fly competition with teams from around the world. Team members rely on their engineering intellect and available resources to solve technical problems throughout their product development projects. In its history, the team has graduated engineers prepared to tackle the most challenging problems in both industry and academia.
Your gift to Rensselaer Design/Build/Fly (DBF) will enable us to continue our mission of developing R/C aircraft and apply the knowledge we learn in the classroom in a competitive interdisciplinary environment. Additionally, this year your support will allow us to make three prototype aircraft configurations, improve our testing and flight performance analysis capabilities, and allow all our new members to experience the AIAA DBF Competition in Wichita, Kansas, first-hand. Donating to Design/Build/Fly will ensure the team can continue to grow and produce leaders in the aerospace field.
