“This year is the first time in 13 years that the RPI Flight Team has qualified at the regional competition to compete at Nationals. Funding the team to compete at the national level against top aviation universities is an invaluable opportunity for our team. This competition will allow us to network with other students and companies, while allowing us to show the knowledge and abilities that we have gained and practiced outside of the classroom. With most of our team being freshmen and sophomores, this funding will help keep our team flying for years to come!” – Alessandro Galli '16, Computer and Systems Engineering, Private Pilot and 3 year Team Captain
Your donations will go directly to funding housing in Columbus, Ohio, travel to and from the national competition, and practice and competition flight time for our team competitors.
Your gift will help our team competitors to focus on practicing and competing rather than worrying about the cost of attending the competition. Due to the immense costs of flying, your gift will allow the competitors to practice as much as they need to and allow our team to represent our school without thought to cost.
Founded in April 1950, the RPI Flying Club (formerly known as the RAF), has always served to promote interest in general aviation and give students interested in pursuing licenses resources to do so. The Flight Team, a subset of the RPI Flying Club, was formed to allow our most knowledgeable students and pilots test their knowledge against other top aviation universities. The Flight Team hasn’t qualified to compete at the national competition since 2003. For more information, please visit the RPI Flying Club website.
