For students who decide to play a large instrument, there is one major prohibitive factor, and that is cost. Some of these larger instruments may cost upwards of eight to ten thousand dollars to purchase, making obtaining a personal instrument too costly for many students. As a result of this many students rely on the school or organization he/she is a part of to provide instruments.
The Pep Band currently has six sousaphones that our members are able to use, but we have seven sousaphone players, and that number is only expected to increase in the coming years. Your donation would go directly to helping the band purchase a new sousaphone to meet the demand of our members.
Currently the Band has six sousaphones available to be used by its members, but seven sousaphone players. The number of sousaphone players we have is expected to increase in the next few years, as part of a general increase in membership, thus creating a serious need for more sousaphones to ensure that all of our members have the ability to fully participate in the band. If nothing is done, the band may soon be in a position where there are consistently more sousaphone players than sousaphones, leaving some members without an instrument to play. With your support we hope to purchase a new sousaphone, thus providing the necessary equipment for our members to enjoy all that comes with being a member of the Pep Band.
The Pep Band is one of the clubs chiefly responsible for school spirit on campus. The purchase of a new sousaphone will not only help us to amp up our volume at games, instilling more energy into the crowd and making games more exciting, but it will also ensure that student participation in the band is not stifled by a lack of equipment. Your donation will help us ensure that students will be able to enjoy all that comes with being in the Band without concern for whether there will be an instrument to play.
