Your donation would go toward our goal of increasing, and standardizing, the number of 3D printers we have. Currently, we have 3 different brands of machines, that each require their own service parts. The new machines we want to add to our room are easy to maintain, and are true workhorses!
If the total donations exceed $6,120, PLEASE do not stop giving. Any excess gifts will go towards a large volume print system, the LulzBot Taz 6, which is our current, most popular system, and uses the same software and parts as the Prusa’s, allowing us to keep two types of machines in the Forge with easy maintenance and high reliability
We also have a generous anonymous donor who is willing to match every dollar donated to this campaign, so any gift in support of new equipment will help us reach our goal!
Your donation would go to supporting the innovative environment that Rensselaer promotes. We at the Forge solely exist to help any and all students make anything their hearts desire. We have grown so rapidly in the past two years that we need more equipment to continue fostering this environment!
The Forge began three years ago as an idea, an idea that was created by students, realized by students, and maintained by students to current day. Over the last three years, this grassroots organization grew from 10 core members, to over 200 members at our peak. The community has grown not only in numbers, but also in ability, knowledge, and design capabilities, with a focus of collaboration and communication.
We have helped a significant portion of our community, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Our most recent growth is physical; we have a new lab that more than doubles our available space. However, our fabrication infrastructure has remained constant. In our busiest times, we have had twice the amount of projects than open facilities, with lines literally out the door. These statistics have put us on the administration's radar as a shining, and still growing, star in the RPI community. For more information on what we're up to, head to our website!
