"What do our team members get from joining this team? Skills? Happiness? Experience? Yes. But more so are defeats, arguments, frustrations, and tiredness – we learn what we lack while crossing these obstacles, to be the better selves that we can be." — Xiao Yang '18, president
You can help support the RPI Chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as they compete in the ASME Student Design Competition in April.
Gifts support the cost of exploring new mechanisms and construction costs for building a completed, working robot, including materials, tools, and machining tasks processed by third party companies.
Your gift can help RPI ASME introduce students to “Real World Engineer” logic, which encourages them to back up their ideas with prototypes. The final outcome of this process will be the completed robot that will compete in the national ASME competition!
This club intends to let the students know what’s it like to be an engineer, meaning our ideas need to be realistic and to be backed up by prototypes. Students have an opportunity to explore new ideas and prototypes, discuss and examine any technical problems with peers, and most importantly, help students complete a working robot.
The RPI student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers is a professional society that provides opportunities to Rensselaer students. We organize a variety of engineering projects, bring in employers and guest speakers, and host informational meetings covering an array of relevant topics.
