Our Crowdfunding Groups
weR Gold is a crowdfunding program that helps to raise dollars for student-run special projects and/or initiatives. Examples of projects include support for campus programming, club sports, hobby and special interest, media, recreation and fitness, student government, visual and performing arts, and honor societies.
Since 2013, members of the RPI community like you have contributed more than $1,000,000 for students through support of the weR Gold program! Your gift helps support student clubs and organizations as they develop and launch their annual projects, clubs, and activities.

Please make your check out to “Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute,” and in the memo line specify the name of the club you are supporting. Having that notation in the memo line will enable us to ensure your gift is directed to the correct account.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes, your gift is tax-deductible. When you make a gift, you will receive a receipt from Rensselaer.
How much do I have to give?
You may choose any amount greater than $5 -- every dollar counts!
Can I support more than one project?
Yes! Please support all of the projects you feel passionately about.
How long will the clubs be fundraising?
Fundraisers will be taking place through June 2019. Check back often to see if there is a new project you are interested in supporting!
How did you pick projects?
The weR Gold Selection Committee was comprised of alumni donors and staff who worked diligently to select projects with the potential for the greatest impact on the Rensselaer community, while appealing to a wide cross-section of alumni.
What happens when a project reaches its goal?
Additional contributions will be distributed to the student group to be used at the discretion of the students and their faculty or staff advisor, applying the money towards their organization’s overall mission and purpose.
Once a successful fundraiser is complete, how do the groups receive the funds?
Your contribution is deposited directly into the student organization's university budget account. Rensselaer and student groups are committed to ensuring that your gift is used for its intended purpose.
What happens if a project does not hit its funding goal in the time allotted?
If a project does not reach its funding goal in the time allotted, your donation will be distributed to the student group to be used at the discretion of the students and their faculty or staff advisor, applying it towards their organization’s overall mission and purpose.
When will I be able to view updates from the groups I have supported?
The student groups will be posting project updates on their weR Gold website, as well as their social media outlets. Visit often to browse success stories!
Does my weR Gold gift count towards my Annual Patroon Society recognition?
Yes, any gift to Rensselaer counts toward your status in the Annual Patroon Society for the current fiscal year (July 1 – June 30), as well as your lifetime giving. For more information about Young Alumni Patroon Society giving levels and other gift clubs, click here.
